The Year Tokenization Went Mainstream
Tokenized equities reached retail in two waves — xStocks in June 2025, Robinhood in July 2026. We indexed every event both venues have ever emitted and replayed the launches side by side.

What's inside
Both retail waves replayed from the chain records: xStocks took a year to reach ~150,000 on-chain events a day, Robinhood crossed 2 million in two weeks
The whole tokenized market measured from the contracts — 179 product-legs across eight chains, valued as on-chain supply × issuer NAV rather than tracker AUM
Why the same dollars produce 23× the events, and what that does to reporting, reconciliation, and pricing at retail scale
443 ticker-weekends of price discovery: the late-weekend token price called the direction of Monday’s open 84% of the time, beating Friday’s close by 2.6×

What the chain records show
A preview of the measurements inside. Every figure is read directly from the chains, not from a tracker or a dashboard.
01
Two waves, two speeds
xStocks took a year to reach ~150,000 on-chain events a day. Robinhood crossed 2 million a day in two weeks, and by week three was running 20× xStocks’ same-age pace.
02
Costs scale with events, not AUM
In one matched week the two venues settled almost the same dollar volume, ~$470M and ~$460M, while sitting 23× apart in event count and 639× apart in median ticket.
03
Wallet counts aren’t user counts
Over their first 25 days xStocks saw 67,136 unique recipient wallets and Robinhood 60,393. One is tens of thousands of self-custody users. The other is omnibus custody in front of millions of app users.
04
Compliance sits at the app gate
Across 95.3 million transfers, Robinhood’s token contracts have never frozen a wallet, forced a transfer, or blacklisted an address. Those functions aren’t in the verified contract at all. The only lever is a contract-wide pause.
05
The weekend market prices Monday
Across 443 ticker-weekends, Sunday night’s token price called the direction of Monday’s official open 84% of the time, and beat Friday’s close as a predictor by 2.6×.
06
Four value models, one wrong shortcut
Mint-accrual, NAV-accrual, multiplier repricing, and rebase are all live in the market. Summing balances gives the wrong answer for three of them, and for several flagship funds the transfer agent, not the chain, is legally authoritative.

Who should read this
Written for product, engineering, and strategy leaders at brokers, asset managers, exchanges, and fintechs.
Brokers and fintechs
Robinhood is the case study in using tokenization to expand distribution and offer 24/7 trading without building or joining a new exchange.
Asset managers
A distribution channel where demand is visible on-chain day by day, and where the value model you pick decides what your data has to compute.
Exchanges and capital-markets teams
DTCC’s tokenization platform lands in October and Nasdaq’s settlement pilot in late Q3. Tokenized collateral is already live on Binance, Deribit, and Crypto.com.
Treasury teams and stablecoin issuers
Idle cash becomes yield-bearing and collateral becomes instantly movable. GENIUS Act reserve rules make tokenized money-market funds the shape of the reserve.
Every number in the report is measured from the contracts. We indexed the full event history of xStocks on Solana and Robinhood Chain, plus 179 product-legs across eight chains, and valued the market as on-chain supply × issuer NAV rather than tracker AUM.
